Malaseb® Medicated Shampoo is a topical keratolytic, antibacterial, anti-fungal, and antipruritic shampoo formulated for dogs and cats and helps alleviate scaly, greasy or smelly skin.
Claims:
- Treatment of Seborrheic Dermatitis: Associated with infections by Staphylococcus pseudintermedius, Malassezia (Pityrosporum) pachydermatis.
- Treatment of Dermatophyte Infections: Due to Microsporum canis, Microsporum gypseum, and Trichophyton mentagrophytes in dogs and cats.
- Removal of Scale and Degreasing: Formulated to remove scale, degrease the skin, and kill cutaneous micro-organisms that cause dermatitis.
Directions for Use:
Caution:
- Use Around Eyes: Use with caution around eyes. If shampoo enters the animal's eye, flush thoroughly with clean water. Seek veterinary advice if eye changes are observed.
- Supervision During Shampooing: Animals should not be left unattended during the recommended 10-minute shampoo contact time as licking or inhaling shampoo foam may result in irritation of the gastrointestinal or respiratory tracts.
- Not Recommended for Rabbits: This product is not recommended for use in rabbits or species other than dogs or cats.
Dosage and Administration:
- Wet the Animal: Thoroughly wet the animal with clean water.
- Apply Shampoo: Apply Dermcare Malaseb® Medicated Shampoo to the animal at several points and massage into the coat. Use a sponge to assist lathering and penetration of the shampoo into the coat.
- Apply to Specific Areas: Ensure that the shampoo is applied around the lips, under the tail, and between the toes, as these areas harbour causative organisms.
- Leave On for 10 Minutes: Leave the shampoo on the animal for 10 minutes.
- Rinse Thoroughly: Rinse off the shampoo thoroughly with clean water.
- Repeat Treatment: Repeat twice weekly until symptoms abate, then weekly or as directed by your veterinary surgeon.
Dosage Guidelines:
- For a 30kg medium-haired dog, 50mL of Dermcare Malaseb® Medicated Shampoo is adequate.
- For an adult cat, 7-10mL of Dermcare Malaseb® Medicated Shampoo is adequate.
Treatment for Ringworm:
- When treating Ringworm (Dermatophytosis), all in-contact animals should be treated to limit infection spreading and environmental contamination.
Overall, Dermcare Malaseb® Medicated Shampoo provides a comprehensive solution for treating various skin conditions in dogs and cats, including seborrhoeic dermatitis and dermatophyte infections, while also ensuring proper application and safety precautions.
